It's Time To Go
So where are we off to this time you might wonder? In August we are moving to Thailand, not to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok but a small town in Rayong province. We are looking forward to returning to South East Asia and resuming a more chilled lifestyle under the swaying palm trees, cooled by a slight breeze wafting in from the ocean.
You might also wonder why we are moving? We had set our heart on returning to the UK to be closer to friends and family and to give our young son a feeling of belonging, a sense of Britishness. Papacito applied for numerous jobs in the UK and then we received a message that there was a job going in Thailand, at the same place where we already had good friends. That was enough for Papacito. His heart had always been in SE Asia, since he was a backpacking twenty something visiting Malaysia, and the thought of being able to go back there was very appealing. The more we thought about it the more we wondered why we wanted to return to a cold and dismal Britain with its cash strapped NHS, underfunded schools and Brexit looming. Tropical living, with a nice house, a maid and small class sizes for Chiquitito sounded more appealing the more we thought about it.
So, after two interviews and a few nervous weeks of waiting he was offered the job, and accepted.
Now my head is full of passport renewals, clearing, sorting, packing, shipping and trying to convince Chiquitito that moving again is not too bad and his new school will be nice and he will make friends.
I am now off to have a lie down in a darkened room. The passport forms are filled out and paid for and ready to courier back to the UK. Everything else can wait a while.
